GSV (Groupement de la Sidérurgie - Staalindustrie Verbond), founded in 1953, is the professional federation of steel companies producing or transforming steel in Belgium
GSV has 13 full members, representing in 2011 14.200 direct jobs and a turnover of some EUR 8.9 billion (for a more detailed view on the importance of the steel sector in Belgium, please see the annual reports in our 'Publications' section)
GSV :
- represents and defends the sector at international, European, federal and regional level ;
- offers its members a package of services ;
- studies the evolutions in various issues such as the general economy, the market, social affairs, environment, transport, energy, raw materials and analyses their impact on the sector
- informs about performances of the sector and collaborates with the Belgium - Steel Information Center to promote the material steel.
On the 1st of January 2010, GSV has joined forces with the Glass federation (VGI-FIV) and the Paper and cardboard transforming federation (FETRA) into a new platform inDUfed, whereby the sustainability of the products is the common characteristic of the three sectors.
